Özet

Introduction. In Classical Turkish Literature, metaphor has a wide scope as a literary term. But there is no common definition. The reason for this is that metaphor is used in different meanings by divan poets. In Classical Turkish Literature, a fine and wide variety of metaphors have been put forward. Thanks to literary arts, most of the metaphors appear in different works in different periods. Since the material of literature is language, the ability to reveal hidden meanings by making word games indicates the value of the poet and the work [1, 20-22]. The thoughts and dreams that are the subject of metaphor are usually chosen from the outside world and are closely related to beliefs or traditions. Metaphor is an important part of the poetic tradition and the world of images, and perhaps a language of art with a higher identity in terms of being an indicator of poetry.
