Özet

This study aims to determine the relationship between the faculty culture perceived by teacher candidates and their democratic attitudes. In this regard, a sample group was formed by selecting 308 teacher candidates who studied at the Department of Classroom Teaching in the 2010 - 2011 academic year using a criterion sampling method. Democratic Attitude Scale developed by Gozutok (1995) and Faculty Culture Scale developed by Erdem and Isbasi (2001) were used in the research. t-test, ANOVA and Pearson Product-Moment Correlation Coefficient Analysis techniques were utilized in analyzing the data. Findings revealed that there was no significant relationship between the faculty culture perceived by teacher candidates and their democratic attitudes. Moreover, a significant difference was found in favor of first-year and second-year students in the democratic attitude and faculty culture scores in terms of the academic year variable.
