Özet

Polarization converters are important elements that increase the performance of microwave devices. The propagation of the electric field intensity of the electromagnetic wave is analyzed with polarization transducers. Especially in radar and antenna studies where the S band is used, performance enhancement is often made with these devices. Due to the disadvantages of polarization converters produced by traditional methods such as large volume and narrow operating bandwidth, polarization converters have been created by metasurface structures in recent years. Metasurface structures have been used in the manufacturing of many microwave devices with their periodic and aperiodic structures in recent years. Metasurface polarization converters attract attention with their linear and circular polarization conversion capabilities. In this study, it was aimed to design a metasurface-based polarization converter for microwave S-band applications. The proposed design was realized with metal termination, FR4 substrate and metasurface structure. Highly conductive copper was chosen as the conductor for the metasurface and metal termination. The metasurface structure was designed with a low profile structure. The proposed design provides a linear polarization conversion ratio (PCR) of over 90% in the 2-4.5 GHz frequency range. In addition, it works with PCR performance over 80% up to 45 degrees for incoming wave under oblique angle condition. The proposed design was carried out with the CST Microwave Studio program and the performance analysis was made with the Matlab program.
