Application of geophysical methods besides geological studies in determining the resistance properties of rock muss including discontinuous provides much more accurate and reliable results. In this study, seismic refraction measurements were done Murder to obtain the elastic parameters and quality of rocks at 20 different stations with determined profiles at the Deriner (Artvin) Dam site on both the right and left side. The density (rho), the Poisson's ratio (nu) the shear modulus (C), the bulk modulus (k) and the modulus of elasticity (E-SKY) were calculated by using the propagation velocities of elastic waves (P and S wanes) within the grunodiorite which is dominant rock in the area. The free compressive strength (q(u)) of the rock mass at the dam site has been calculated using the shear wave velocity (v(s)), and the rippability of the rock mass was classified by using the longitudinal wave velocities (V-p) obtained in the profiles where seismic measurements were done. The rock quality designation(RQD)features of grunodiorite outcroped at the Deriner dum site was calculated by utilizing the crack number technique directly on the surface on grunodiorite in seismic measurement profile at 20 different stations. The mops of the velocity distributions of the study area obtained in these measurements are given. The relationship between the percentage distribution of the RQD values of the granodiorite rock moss at the dam site and the V-s,(m/s), C (MP u) and E-SKY (MPa) values obtained from the seismic refraction method are investigated In the study, firstly, the stutter diagrams of these properties were ploted and linear relationships were found between the specified properties.
