Özet

Yaglica Castle located in district Kagizman-Kars is one of the highest castle in Eastern Anatolia Region. This castle keeps under control the fertile plains located in the east of the castle and the highland way from Kagizman. The castle was used as a settlement at the Bronze and Early Iron Age. Monumental rock panels are located in the north of the castle. The rock panels were made with carved and lines techniques. A picture on panels with snake figure in the size 70 cm and human figure under it has been found. Snake was seen as a symbol of the health, happiness, luck, healing between Turks living in Central Asia. Turks living in Central Asia painted pictures of the dragons, eagles, birds, animals such as deer and horses wherever they went. Snake figure was the symbol of immortality and fear. Snake figure finding place to yourself in life of the traditional Turkish society, are densely seen within the Twelve Animal Turkish Calendar, between elements of shamanism, architecture and weaving.
