Özet

Abstract This study was conducted to determine the prevalence and perform morphological identification of Acidovorax species causing diseases on Cucurbitaceae plants in Erzurum and Erzincan provinces. Within the scope of the study, production areas with intensive cucurbit cultivation and high incidence of bacterial diseases were identified in both provinces. The prevalence of Acidovorax species was determined in Erzurum and Erzincan, with the disease being most prominent in Pasinler and Ilıca districts of Erzurum and the Çağlayan and Uluköy regions of Erzincan. Survey studies in the identified regions resulted in the collection of plant samples exhibiting bacterial disease symptoms, which were then evaluated under laboratory conditions. Isolation procedures were performed on TSA (Tryptic Soy Agar) and NA (Nutrient Agar) media, and pure strain were obtained from the developing colonies. A total of 70 strain were obtained from these regions. The strain were derived from the fruits and leaves of watermelon, melon, cucumber, pumpkin, squash, and seed pumpkin plants. Morphological identification included the examination of colony shape, color, margin, and surface characteristics, as well as detailed observations under a microscope. The results indicated that Acidovorax species are widely distributed in the study regions and pose a potential risk to cucurbit production. This study provides significant scientific data for the diagnosis and regional distribution of Acidovorax-related bacterial diseases in Erzurum and Erzincan provinces.
