Özet

AIM or PURPOSE: This study aims to evaluate the effect of ultrasonic application of the universal bonding system on dentin adhesion by using microtensile bond strenght(mTBS) test, failure mode analysis and SEM observation. MATERIALS and METHOD: Twenty four non-carious extracted human third molar teeth included to the study. Mid coronal dentin surfaces exposed by removing occlusal enamel 1/3 with water cooling diamond saw. The specimens were divided to four application mode groups [(Passive Rub bing, Active Rubbing, Passive Ultrasonic, Active Ultrasonic), n=6, one sample of each group separated for SEM analysis]. All rubbing application groups applied with rubber micro brush andall ultrasonic application groups applied with hand madeultrasonic bondapplicator tip. We usedprecision scales for standardizetion to passive application(PR,PU)’s force was 4 gr. § 1 gr., active application(AR,AU)’s force was 34 gr.§1gr. All bonding prosedures has been applied following the manu facturer’s instructions. Then composite restoration were placed in minimum two layers using silicone molds. After that we executed mTBS test using a tester device. The recorded data were analyzed by analysis of ANOVA and Tukey HSDtests (p<0.05). RESULTS: Statistically significant differences were found between application modes (p<0.05). Application mode’s comparation was resulted PU>AU=AR>PR respectively (p<0.05). Failure analysi compatible with mTBS test findings. In ultrasonic application groups’ SEM observation, resin tag quantity observed very high comparing to rubbing applica tion groups. CONCLUSION(S): Passive ultrasonic (PU) activation during on dentin bonding increase the bond strenght so PU may help to long-life restoration and decrease the leakage of fluids. In fur ther studies should focus on the micro-nano leakage.
