Determining the quality and quantity of the growing body of research on creative thinking is important for strengthening the field’s research foundations. This study aimed to identify the fundamental structure, trends and dynamics of research on creative thinking in education from 1970 to 2023. A bibliometric method was used in the study. Hu W.P. has the most influential publication in this field, while Yang, Y.T.C. Karwowski, M. and Hwang, G.J. are the most influential authors. The most influential journal is Thinking Skills and Creativity. The United States stands out as the most influential country, while Taiwan has the most influential universities. In addition, the authors, countries and universities collaborating in this field, as well as the most frequently used keywords, were revealed through co-citation analysis. The findings will shape future research by contributing to the intellectual formation of the field, its evolution and trends over time.
