Özet

The purpose of this research is to develop a scale with validity and reliability to measure students’ speed reading self-efficacy and to test the usefulness of the developed scale. 903 students took part in the study. According to the analysis results, a scale consisting of four factors and 25 items was developed. During the application phase, it was investigated whether gender and grade level variables had a significant effect on the whole scale and sub-dimension scores. According to the results of the research, it was determined that the speed reading self-efficacy levels of the students were above the average. In addition, it was determined that speed reading self-efficacy levels differed significantly in favor of female students in the Attention and Concentration factor according to the gender variable. According to the grade level variable, it was determined that there was a significant difference in favor of 8th graders.
