Özet
According to Jaspers, being yourself comes about through communication with other-selves. Today, communication with others is essential in social media applications, which is an area where communication takes place. Individuals start to experience existential problems such as online loneliness, trauma, and freedom in social media over time, and social media turns into existential media. In this study, the equivalent of Jaspers' forms of communication has been sought in today's digitalization process. The study population, in which the field research method and semi-structured interview technique, one of the qualitative research methods, was used, consisted of individuals between the ages of 18-65 living in Erzurum and using social media. With the purposive sampling method, 30 people from generations X, Y, and Z were selected with equal numbers of men and women. According to the study's findings, while the communication of existence and the communication of spirit were partially encountered in Generation X's communication on social media, the communication of general consciousness and existential communication were not met. All forms of communication are present in Generation Y's communication practices on social media. Generation Z's communication practices on social media support the communication of existence.
