Dentin hassasiyeti Diş Hekimliğinde sık sık karşılaşılan problemlerdendir. Dentin hassasiyeti atrizyon, abrazyon yada periodontal hastalık sonucu dentinin açığa çıkması ile meydana gelebilir. Bu çalışmada, periodontal tedavilerden önce dentin hassasiyeti bakımından 96 hasta muayene edildi. Hassasiyetin tesbit edilmesinde mekanik, termal ve kimyasal uyarılar kullanıldı. Her uyarı için hassasiyet derecesi subjektif olarak kaydedildi. Periodontal cerrahi tedavilerden sonra hassasiyet derecesi yüzde yüzlük bir artış gösterdi. Hastalar iki gruba ayrıldı. Hassasiyeti önlemek için birinci gruba periodontal tedavilerden sonra iontoforez aracılığıyla sodyum florid uygulandı. Hassasiyet tedavisi için ikinci gruba hiçbir şey uygulanmadı. Cerrahi tedaviyi takip eden bir hafta sonrasında birinci grubun hassasiyet dereceleri % 89.3 azaldı. İkinci grupta ise hassasiyet dereceleri ancak bir ay sonra % 23.4 azaldı. Aradaki bu fark istatistiksel olarak önemli bulundu (p( 0.001). Sonuç olarak bu bulgular periodontal tedavilerden sonra hiçbir işlem yapılmasa bile hassasiyet derecelerinin azalacağını ancak hassasiyetin kısa zamanda ve etkili olarak azaltılabilmesi için iontoforezin tercih edilebileceğini gösterdi.
Dentin hypersensitivity is a frequently encountered problem in dentistry. Hypersensitivity may occur wherever the dentin is exposed by attrition or abrasion, or the root surface is exposed by periodontal disease, In this study, ninty n six patients were examined for dentin hypersensitivity prior to different periodontal treatment. Mechanical, thermal and chemical stimuli was used in order to established hypersensitivity. A subjective assesment of the degree of hypersensitivity for each stimulus was recorded. There was 100 % increase of the pain (hypersensitivity) scores after periodontal surgical treatment. Patients were divided into two groups. Sodium fluoride was applied by iontophoresis for desensitization after different periodontal treament to the first group. It was not applied anything for the hypersensitivity treament to the second group. Following surgical treatment after one week sensivity scores decreased 89.3 % in first group. Only one month later sensitivity scores decreased 23.4 % in second group. Consequently, this findings showed that sensitivity after periodontal treatment even if nothing is done. But iontophoresis may be prefered for decreasing of the sensitivity in the short time and effective.
