Children and adolescents are among the most valuable assets of societies. A healthy childhood and adolescence are vital for an individual’s physical, mental, and emotional development. However, oral health should not be overlooked to sustain a healthy developmental process. Th is is because oral health is an integral part of overall health and a fundamental factor aff ecting individuals’ quality of life. Oral screenings in children and adolescents play a critical role in maintaining and improving oral health. Th ese screenings help in early detection of serious diseases such as dental caries, periodontal diseases, malocclusions, other oral health problems that may arise in early childhood, and oral cancer. Early diagnosis is crucial for initiating treatment early and maintaining a healthy oral environment. Oral screenings are also important in helping children and adolescents develop healthy oral hygiene habits that they can maintain throughout their lives. Giving importance to oral health at an early age leads children to adopt healthy habits such as brushing teeth, using dental fl oss, and regular dental visits. Th ese habits contribute to maintaining oral health in later years and continuing the healthy habits acquired during childhood into adulthood.
