Regionalisms of Russian Origin in Erzurum and Kars’ Dialect
The regional vocabulary borrowed from the Russian language is widely spread in the lo-cal varieties of the Turkish language spoken in Eastern Anatolia, in particular, in Erzurum and Kars. Basically, these Rusisms are related to everyday life and activities, as well as military a airs. Probably, the rst group was adopted by the local population in the process of interaction with the those recently arriving from Russia, and the second — during the per-iods of the Russian troops’ presence on this territory before WW1. As the analysis shows there are di culties in addressing the issue of revealing the direct source of borrowing which appear in cases when the Russian word itself is actually a foreign borrowing.
