Özet
Mitsel İmge eseri genel hatlarıyla görsellerin mitik anlamları ve simgesel olarak yorumlanması üzerine kuruludur. Yazar her türden görseli -mağara resimleri, heykel, vazo,
mezar taşları, tapınaklar, vitray süslemeler, halılar vs.- derinlemesine incelemiş ve yorumlamıştır. Bu çok yönlü yaklaşım doğrultusunda eski medeniyetler, farklı dinler, çeşitli inanç grupları bu incelemeye dâhil edilmiştir. Böylece Aztek, Maya, Babil, Frig uygarlıklarından, Çin, Yunan, Roma, Pers, Mısır’a kadar birçok farklı kültür ve medeniyet bu
incelemenin odağını oluşturmuştur. Yazar ayrıca tek bir kaynağa bağlı kalmayarak, dinî
kitaplardan ve günlük hayattan örnekler vermiş, efsane, mitoloji metinleriyle düşüncelerini destekleme yoluna gitmiştir. Çalışmaya alınan 421 görselden yola çıkarak mitlerin,
dinî inanç ve uygulamaların kökenini, ortak yönlerini okurların dikkatine sunmuştur.
Böylece kültür, inanç, söz ve eylem bir bütünlük teşkil edecek şekilde değerlendirmelerinin merkezini oluşturmuştur. Campbell, kozmolojik, mimari, mitolojik, törensel, sosyolojik, folklorik, felsefi, antropolojik ve psikolojik bir bakış açısı üzerinden bir inceleme
alanı oluşturmuş, böylece disiplinlerarası bir çalışma vücuda getirmiştir.
Mythical Image is based on the mythical meanings and symbolic interpretation of images in general terms. The author uses all kinds of images, cave paintings, sculptures, vases, tombstones, temples, stained glass decorations, carpets, etc. analyzed and interpreted in depth. In line with this versatile approach, ancient civilizations, different religions, and various belief groups have been included in this study. Thus, many different cultures and civilizations, from Aztec, Maya, Babylonian, Phrygian, Chinese, Greek, Roman, Persian, and Egyptian civilizations, formed the focus of this study. The author also did not stick to a single source, gave examples from religious books and daily life, and tried to support his thoughts with legends and mythology texts. Based on the 421 images included in the study, the origin and common aspects of myths, religious beliefs and practices were brought to the attention of the readers. Thus, culture, belief, speech and action formed the center of his evaluations to form a unity. Campbell created a field of study from a cosmological, architectural, mythological, ceremonial, sociological, folkloric, philosophical, anthropological and psychological perspective, thus creating an interdisciplinary study.
