The present research was conducted to characterise the chemical composition and to investigate the antioxidant and antimicrobial activity of the essential and fixed oil of Sophora mollis plant. Sophora monis is a perennial shrub and belongs to family papilionaceae. The essential oil was extracted by hydro-distillation and fixed oil was extracted by soxhlet. The chemical composition of these oils was analysed by GC-MS analysis. The GC-MS analysis of essential oils of stem and leaves identified various compounds. The major components identified by GC-MS were 2,3,3-trimethyloctane (16.36%), 2,6-dihexadecanoate (24.50%), n-butyl acetate (12.48%) and 1,2-benzenedicarboxylic acid, mono(2-ethylhexyl) ester (18.26%). Essential and fixed oils showed potent antimicrobial as well as antioxidant activities.
