Özet

Excessive monosodium glutamate (MSG) exposure has been associated with adverse hepatic responses in experimental studies, although the molecular changes observed in the present study do not independently establish liver injury. This study investigated changes in PCSK9 and FASN expression following MSG exposure and tannic acid (TA) administration, using integrated bioinformatics and experimental approaches. Public HCC datasets revealed associations between PCSK9 and FASN expression, although their protein-level expression patterns and survival associations were not uniformly consistent. In the rat model, MSG treatment increased hepatic PCSK9 and FASN expression, altered apoptosis- and inflammation-related gene expression, and changed selected liver toxicity-associated molecular markers. TA co-administration attenuated several MSG-associated expression changes, although the responses were not uniformly restored to control levels. These findings demonstrate treatment-associated changes in PCSK9 and FASN expression but do not establish a direct regulatory relationship between the two molecules or confirm a causal mechanism. Further studies incorporating functional assays, biochemical measurements, and histopathological assessment are needed to clarify the biological significance of these findings.
