Özet

The advancement in science and technology brings together with it both benefits and drawbacks. The glass fiber is used for engineering applications since 1930s; however, in the last decade the usage for high-tech applications like aircraft components increased due to better production capabilities and quality control by the help of artificial intelligence (AI) as a benefit of development of science. In contrast to benefits, the increased production capacity caused waste to accumulate and attracted the attention for environmental issues. Due to that reason, researchers and industry focused on the solution for circularity for sustainability of glass fiber reinforced composites. This chapter focused on glass fiber reinforced composites and their mechanical performance for aircraft application. After that AI application to glass fiber composites were discussed. Finally, the sustainability for glass fiber composites were indicated by considering recycling of composites.
