SOIL USE AND MANAGEMENT, cilt.18, sa.2, ss.152-154, 2002 (SCI-Expanded)
This study investigated the effect of the same volume of leaching water applied consecutively in either equal amounts or increasing amounts or decreasing amounts on the hydraulic conductivity of a saline sodic soil in 30 cm plastic columns in the laboratory. Gypsum was mixed with the surface 2-3 cm of soil. After leaching, the hydraulic conductivity was measured in each 10 cm depth of soil. Hydraulic conductivity decreased strongly (P<0.05) with depth and the most effective method of applying the water was in gradually increasing amounts.
