Özet

Objective: This study was aimed at investigating the suicide risks of individuals diagnosed with substance use disorder in terms of their sociodemographic characteristics. Materials and methods: In the study, 182 individuals diagnosed with substance use disorder were included. They were administered the Sociodemographic Information Form and the Suicide Probability Scale (SPS). Results: The mean score of the participants obtained from the SPS was 78.92 ± 15.40. As for the dimensions, they obtained the highest mean score from the Social Support/Sense of Self dimension (30.80 ± 7.63), the lowest mean score from the Anger/Impulsivity dimension (11.35 ± 3.71). There was a significant relationship between the scores obtained from the overall SPS and the variables such as the number of treatments, the number of suicide attempts, financial status, family relations, suicidal ideation, and suicide attempt (p < 0.05), between the scores obtained from the Suicidal Ideation dimension and the variables such as educational status, duration of substance use,and mother’s being alive (p < 0.05). Conclusion: Suicide risk in individuals with substance use disorder is related to factors, such as the number of treatments, the number of suicide attempts, economic status, mother’s being alive, duration of substance use, family relations, and suicide history.
