6th MEMTEK International Symposium on Membrane Technologies and Applications, İstanbul, Türkiye, 18 - 20 Kasım 2019, ss.1-5
In this study, the
treatability of old landfill leachates by means of Submerged Membrane
Bioreactor (SMBR) followed by a rotary hybrid reactor based on the Hydrodynamic
Cavitation Ozonation process was investigated. The SBMR was operated under
various flux rates (3, 6, 12 and 18 L/m2.hour) for 425 days. For the
SMBR, an average 32.6% COD removal efficiency was achieved. After the ozonation
of effluent water from the SMBR in a rotary-based Hydrodynamic Cavitation
Reactor (HDCR) with a different number of passes, the COD (chemical oxygen
demand) removal efficiency of the hybrid system increased up to 95.8%. Findings
show that HDCR is likely to be an intensification process for the treatment of
wastewater for which biological treatment methods are mostly inapplicable.
