Sainfoin (Onobrychis sativa L.) is a very
important forage crop for our country and the Eastern Anatolia Region because
it is resistant to drought and cold and has high yield capacity. However, in
recent years, insect damage threatening sainfoin cultivation has become
widespread in our country. Rootworms and healthy sainfoin plants are found in
the old fields of East Anatolia. In this research, sainfoin samples were
collected from seven villages in the central and districts of Erzurum, from old
and rootworms to the contaminated fields. Afterwards, they were tested with
rootworms for 2 years in the field conditions and in terms of yield,
morphological characteristics, weed quality characteristics and durability.
Endurance studies require many years. This study was carried out with the aim
of establishing an infrastructure for the development of efficient and insect
resistant varieties.
