Chicken meat supply and demand models were estimated to determine the factors affecting the quantities supplied and demanded by using the tine series data of 1983-1998 period, when Turkey's economy was in transition to free market. According to supply and demand models that were estimated, it has beet determined that producer price of beef and chicken meat affect chicken meat production. On the other hand, the population growth and consumer price for mutton affected the consumption of chicken meat. Supply elasticity was observed to be greater than that of demand. It is concluded that, chicken meat producers are more responsive to the price changes than consumers.
