Özet

In this study, it is aimed to empirically examine the sustainability of external debts in Turkish economy, where external borrowing is used as an important fiscal policy tool, through various the external debt payment load ratios. In this study, the sustainability of external debts in Turkish economy is examined econometrically for the period 1970-2018 by using different quality of linear and nonlinear unit root tests in the framework of time series analysis. As a result of this study, it was concluded that all of the external debt payment load ratios used to determine the sustainability of external debts in the Turkish economy were sustainable in the first difference and that the external debts of the Turkish economy were at an unsustainable level in the 1970-2018 period.
