The licensed warehousing system is important for productivity, transparency, sustainability, access to finance, protection and standardization of product quality, marketing, reduction of informal economy, planning and policy development in agriculture. The aim of the study is to assess the preferences, concerns and expectations of farmers in Türkiye from the farmers' point of view and to identify the problems encountered in the roll-out of the system and policy recommendations to increase its effectiveness. In the study, a face-to-face survey was conducted with 458 farmers randomly selected from provinces. Findings show that almost half of the farmers find the capacity of licensed warehouses sufficient, while the others find it insufficient. Most of the farmers in the regions where there are no warehouses therefore want warehouses to be established. Among farmers who do not want warehouses to be established, the biggest concern is insecurity (83%). Additionally, while most of the farmers think that the system has become widespread, the reasons for the lack of widespread use of licensed warehousing are low price/low payment in advance, insecurity, not giving appointments on time and not receiving products, lack of information, and transportation and withholding tax costs. As a result, although access to the system is generally widespread, lack of trust, economic conditions (transportation, withholding tax, price) and lack of information are the main factors preventing more widespread and efficient use. Not only the installation of warehouses and infrastructure, but also the transparency and economic incentives for the functioning of the system need to be improved.
