Anorectal malformations are among the most common congenital anomalies that require neonatal surgery. Although the headlines of anorectal malformations present with a spectrum of defects of this region, generally, imperforate anus and its fistulous or nonfistulous connections are examined. Here the authors present a boy with anorectal malformation, with sacrococcygeal teratoma and meningocele. Interestingly, the patient had neither imperforate anus nor anorectal stenosis, but had widely open anorectum. This kind of anorectal malformation has never been described previously in the English-language literature. Copyright (C) 2001 by W.B. Saunders Company.
