Abstract:Aim: This study was conducted in order to determine the effect of anger management training on the violence tendency of hıgh school students. Material and Method: The study was carried out semi-experimentally with pretest-posttest control group between February- August 2019. The population of the study consisted of 9th and 10th grade students studying in Kars Faik Fikriye Torunoğulları Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School in 2018-2019 academic year. The sample of the study consisted of 75 students (34 experiments and 41 controls) who met the inclusion criteria. Anger Management Training was provided to the students in the experimental group. Demographic Information Form and Violence Tendency Scale were used for collecting data. In order to evaluate the data, descriptive statistics, Chi-Square t test in dependent and independent groups were used. Results: There was no statistically significant difference between the pre-test (50.39 ± 7.86) and post-test (50.68 ± 8.65) scores of the control group violence tendency scale (p> 0.05), in the experimental group, there was a significant decrease in posttest mean scores (38.26 ± 9.12) compared to the pre-test (50.70 ± 9.37) (p <0.05). Conclusion: Anger Management Training is considered to be effective in decreasing student's tendency to violence. Regular anger control trainings may be recommended for adolescent high school students by their child-adolescent mental health nurses. Keywords: Anger, aggression, violence, nursing
