Biography

I am director at the Earthquake Research Center, Atatürk University, Turkey. I received my Ph.D and M.Sc. in Earth Sciences from the Graduate School of Natural and Applied Sciences of Dokuz Eylul University (DEU), Izmir and my B.Sc. in Geophysics and Geology from the Suleyman Demirel University in Isparta, Turkey. My research focuses in understanding the physics of earthquakes, geothermal reservoir, local earthquake tomography (LET), ambient noise tomography, tectonic, induced seismicity. .I received my PhD from DEU working with Prof. Orhan Polat on applying LET technique on some of the largest local datasets in Turkey. My other interest is to use seismic records to understand the earthquake source, the interior of the Earth and how both affect the ground motions that we feel on the Earth’s surface. Seismological observations are affected by the internal structure of the Earth, for example amplification of seismic waves in sedimentary basins. Also, other seismological subjects that I studied more then ten years, were principal research topics for me. Additionally, I enjoy working with instrumental seismology, and analyzing seismic data by actively using GEOPSY and also SEISAN software’s.
