Biography

Osman Aktaş was born on April 20, 1958 in Erzurum İspir. He attended primary, secondary and high school in İspir. He graduated from Ege University, Faculty of Science, Department of Microbiology in 1982, where he entered the university in 1978. He completed his doctorate in 1989 at Atatürk University Faculty of Medicine, Department of Medical Microbiology, where he started to work as an assistant in 1983. He became an assistant professor in 1995, an associate professor in 1996 and a professor in 2001 at the same faculty.

He took part in administrative duties such as coordinator, chief coordinator and assistant dean in charge of education at Atatürk University Faculty of Medicine and in various commissions at the University scale. Osman Aktaş, who has been the chairman of Erzurum AIDS Fighting Association for two terms, is a member of many associations and organizations related to his field.

Osman Aktaş has more than 150 articles published in various national and international indexed journals and papers presented in congresses. In addition, a scientific book titled "Tıbbi Artropodoloji" published in 2014; A mythology book titled “ “Bir Yaratılış Efsanesi: Türk’ün Yaratılışı ve Yeniden Doğuşu” published in 2015, a philosophy book titled "Milat Öncesi İlk Çağ Filozofları: Bereketli düşün çağı" published in 2021, and a poetry book titled "Sensiz Yalnızdılar" published in 2010.

Osman Aktaş, who is married and has a child, still continues his academic career at Atatürk University Faculty of Medicine and has been serving as the Head of the Department of Medical Microbiology and the Head of the Department of Basic Medical Sciences since 2021. Heis married and has one child.
