Biography

prof. Dr. Turgay Şişman was born in 1976 in Artvin-Yusufeli. He completed his primary, secondary and high school education in the same district and graduated from Atatürk University, Faculty of Science and Letters, Department of Biology, where he settled in 1995, with a first degree in 1999. He was appointed to Askale/Koşapınar Village as a classroom teacher in 1999. In May 2000, he started to work as a Research Assistant at Atatürk University, Faculty of Arts and Sciences, Biology Department, Molecular Biology Department. He completed his master's degree in 2004 with the thesis "CLASTOGENIC EFFECTS OF AFLATOXIN B1 ON POLYTEN Chromosomes of Drosophila melanogaster" and his doctorate in 2007 on "DEVELOPMENT OF POLYCHLORINED BIPHENYLE COMPOUNDS OF Danio rerio (ZEBRA FISH)". In the same year, he started to work as an assistant professor in the Department of Biology, Department of General Biology at the Faculty of Science. He is one of the founding faculty members of the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics, which was established in 2009 within the Faculty of Science. The 1st National Palandöken Toxicology Symposium, which was held in 2010 with the participation of the Turkish Toxicology Association, was held in Erzurum by Prof. Dr. Organized with Hasan TÜRKEZ. In 2012, he received the title of Associate Professor in the field of Developmental Biology and Aquatic Toxicology of the Department of Biology. He started to work as a Professor in the Department of Biology at the Faculty of Science in 2017, and then started to work as a professor in the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics, Department of Genetics in the same faculty in 2022. He is still working as a lecturer (Prof. Dr.) at the same university. Research areas; Toxicology, Developmental Biology, Ecotoxicology, Zebrafish Development, Animal Histology and Histopathology. He is married and has 3 children.
