Although explained in different words recently, misconception is particularly one of the greatest obstacles that stand in the way of conceptual learning. Even though it is extremely difficult to completely eliminate the misconceptions, it is possible to minimize it. In this study, was attempted to show that the mathematical activity which was originally designed to help the students during their conceptual learning can contrarily cause misconceptions. Document analysis method was chosen in the data analysis in the study. It was argued that algebra tiles activity which was suggested for the 7th grade in elementary education mathematics curriculum can cause pedagogical misconceptions in the future, and it was suggested that the opinions of the lecturing elementary education mathematics teachers be taken when planning the activities.
